Transcription: The Network Interface Card, or NIC, allows you to connect your PC through a cable to a local area network, or LAN. What is a local area network? It's simply a bunch of PCs hooked together by cables so they can talk to each other and so you can share application software, data, printers, and do email. Most LANs have a network server which is a PC that is solely dedicated to serving all the other PCs on the LAN. It contains LAN and application software which all the other PCs called workstations can use.
